Da Duo Di Flippo de Santo (as in "da Bears") is really a smaller version the Chicago-based FLIPPOMUSIC ENSEMBLE, which features Dave Flippo on both piano and vocals and Donn De Santo on acoustic bass. Flippo's-also a composer and lyricist-has built off the sound and approach of Mel Torme and, like Torme, acts as arranger for all the material. FLIPPOMUSIC member Dan Hesler playes flute on track 4 and tenor saxophone on track 14. Drummer and percussionist Leo Murphy performs on on tracks 4, 9 and 14. Michael Levin plays bass clarinet on track 4. Special thanks is given to the late Dee King for his guidance in matters of singing.
