New Life [2LP] - Ellen Allien

Matriarch of the Berlin techno scene, Ellen Allien delivers a powerful statement with her latest album, New Life. The record explores themes of personal autonomy, community responsibility, and the destructive forces threatening our planet's beauty. Recorded between Berlin, Miami, and Ibiza over the past winters, the album channels ideas of empowerment, anarchy, and collective action. It is a call to dismantle failing systems while embracing regeneration, growth, and renewed hope through self-determination. Through her signature forward-thinking techno, Ellen explores the beauty of the ocean and humanity's impact on it, creating immersive sonic landscapes designed to unite and build community on dance floors. The result is music that delivers light through darkness. Her spoken-word passages emerge like signals from another world, with her distinctive voice shaping an otherworldly sonic experience. This is emotional rave music, weaving together elements of minimal, darkwave, and hypnotic euphoria into a vibrant, cohesive journey. Richly textured soundscapes run throughout the record: birds sing, waves crash, and spacecraft glide through a Berlin night sky. Within this darkness lies space to explore the beauty of a world that exists between dusk and sunrise.
